A&W Magazin 1/2008
Developed on the urban fringe in a formerly heterogeneous area from designs by the Barcelona architects and landscape architects Andreu Arriola and Carmen Fiol, it has the form of a unique urban park. The architects created an artificial landscape based on Cubist forms. This design succeeded in giving a central core to the rapidly grown and unstructured city district with its many newcomers from other Spanish regions and abroad. Parc Central, the second-largest park in Barcelona, achieves its goal outstandingly well. It is fully accepted as a recreational facility and place of encounter and promotes social integration in a multi-cultural urban society.
